Having one and keeping it makes sure you can always play sit and go’s.
Money is a poker players air. Without it you couldn’t survive as a poker player. It’s a smart move to have a bankroll and CORRECTLY manage it to ensure you can always play and make money.
How much of a bankroll you’ll need depends on the sit and go’s buy-in.
The bigger the buy-in the bigger the bankroll. Your poker sng bankroll should have at least 50 bu-ins for the sng you want to play. The more buy-ins you have the better.
If you plan on playing $10 sit and go’s you’ll want a minimum bankroll of $500.
Having this size of a bankroll allows you to “fade” the times you don’t cash. It also makes it possible to play another day and win.
Keep your sng bankroll separate from cash and tournament bankrolls. Doing this makes your progress easily track able. Where if ALL your bankrolls were one you’d have difficulty knowing which form of poker you were best at.
Also don’t supplement your income with money won from your sng bankroll until you have enough of a bankroll that you couldn’t possibly go broke. This is vice versa too. Don’t supplement your bankroll with money that should be used for food, gas, bills etc.
Make it a business.
In the first example, supplementing your income with your sng bankroll, skews results. This makes it look as if your business is failing. When in actuality you spent some of it. That may discourage you and make you think you’re doing worse than you actually are.
In the second example, supplementing your bankroll with your income, makes your business look as if its doing well. When really you should abandon your operation until you’ve come up with a plan that works.
It boils down to honesty. Stay honest with yourself and you’ll have success in any poker form.
