"Poker Card Protectors Could Save You Money"
Go to Spinettis Gaming for your card guards Poker card protectors come in many sizes and styles. Most reflect the owners style and/or personality. Many professional and recreational poker players use them. If you’ve played much live poker or watched any of the numerous poker TV shows you’ve probably seen one.
Some players’ are as simple as a coin to a miniature avatar. Poker pro Humberto Brenes is notorious for his shark head avatar card protector. Every time he is all-in he takes the shark head and makes a “chomp, chomp, chomp” sound as he pretends to eat his opponents chips with the shark head. Very funny stuff. Why do they use them though? Do they know some special secret that we don’t? YES! Instead of me explaining, I’ll let the youtube video.
Obviously the best argument for card protectors (and why pro’s use them) is so your cards don’t get mucked when you have a lot of chips at risk. Both parties in the video situation were at fault. The dealer for not realizing the player was all-in and her cards were live and the player for not protecting her cards. She could have saved her cards and chips with a card protector. Instead she lost 32,000 of her 142,000 chip stack leaving her with a 110,000 chip stack. Incidentally she didn’t finish in the money in the 2009 WSOP main event. Whether that was a result of her losing those 32,000 in chips, who knows? On the converse side if she had her cards protected and J.C. had called she could’ve doubled up and had a 284,000 + chip stack! Either way her unprotected cards had a negative affect on her tournament result. Players are responsible for their cards. So it makes sense to invest $10 for a card protector, it may be the best investment you ever make! Good luck!
