"Lowball Poker Strategies: The Winning Edge"
The first of your lowball poker strategies are the hands you play and the positions you play them from.
All the hands I mention are the minimum hand you'll need to play.
From third position 9-7-6-4-3 is playable as a pat hand, 7-4-3-2 is playable as a one card draw.
In fourth position 9-8-4-3-2 is the minimum pat hand, 7-5-4-3 is a safe drawing hand.
Fifth position 9-8-5-4-3 is playable and 7-6-5-4 is a descent one card draw.
From sixth position a playable pat hand is 9-8-6-5-4, 8-5-4-3 is a playable one card draw.
In seventh you can play 9-8-7-6-5 pat and draw at 8-6-5-4.
On the button 10-9-8-7-6 is your minimum pat hand, 10-8-2-A is a good one card draw and you can draw two to a 7-6-5.
All of these minimum hands are break even money wise, they will pay dividends for your image though, and that image is of a
loose gambler!
When you enter the pot, you'll want to raise most of the time, so that you can create an action image. The only reason
you would limp in, would be to throw your opponents off balance.
Another of your lowball poker strategies are the hands you play from the blinds. You would think you could play any of the minimum pat and minimum drawing hands, but it's not that easy!
The hand's you defend your blind with depend on the original raiser's position.
If the third position raises you can play 8-5-4-3 and draw one or you can draw two to 4-3-2.
If a player raises from fourth or fifth you can defend with 8-6-5-4 and 6-4-3, drawing one at the first hand and two to the second.
If a player from sixth, seventh or the button raises you should call with at least a 9-8-6-5 or a 7-6-5.
Another good strategy is to never break a pat hand, if it is the best hand before the draw.
Say you're against one opponent and they draw one card while you have a pat 9-8-6-2-A, it does you no good to throw your nine away and draw because your opponent probably has a better draw.
While if your opponent drew one and you had 9-5-4-3-2, you would always throw the nine and draw!
I hope some of these lowball strategies help you win some nice money.
Good luck!
