"Know Deuce To Seven, and You'll Make The Right Moves At The Right Time"
Deuce to seven is a five card draw game, played for low hands. 7-5-4-3-2 with at least one off-suit card is the hand to make.
Straights and flushes count against you.
An ace counts as "high" only. It really is the worst high hand that wins.
There are two forms to this game, which we'll go over. The first form is single draw, the second is triple draw.
Single draw deuce to seven is played with a no-limit betting structure. It can be played as a limit or pot limit game, no-limit is the most common form.
A max of seven people play at one table.
Once blinds are posted the dealer deals clockwise, starting at the small blind. Each player gets one card at a time, until
all players have five cards.
After the deal there is a betting round.
The player next to the big blind (under the gun) can...
· raise the big blind
· call the big blind
· or fold.
When all player's have acted, it's time to discard.
Discard starts with the closest player, clockwise, to the button. The dealer burns the top card and gives each player however many cards they discarded.
If a player places three discards in front of them, the dealer should announce "three", then give the player three cards from
the top of the deck.
One important rule is to never deal the last card in the deck to a player.
If you run out of cards, shuffle...
· the last card in the deck
· the burn card
· and the muck pile,
all together, (make sure you do not shuffle the discards!) and deal the rest of the players their cards.
After all players have discarded and received new cards or stood pat (didn't take any cards), there is a second betting round.
This betting round is just like the first one.
Once the betting is complete, remaining players turn their hands face up. The dealer determines the winner and pushes them the pot. Time for another hand!
Recap of single draw...
· The deal, everyone gets five cards
· 1st betting round
· Discard and get new cards
· 2nd betting round
· Winner is determined!
Triple draw is played with a max of six player's.
There are three different betting structures you can play the game in...
· limit
· no-limit
· and pot limit.
Triple draw is dealt the same as single draw. The difference between the two, is the amount of betting rounds and draws. In triple draw there are four betting rounds and three draw's.
Betting and drawing order after cards are dealt...
· 1st betting round, 1st draw
· 2nd betting round, 2nd draw
· 3rd betting round, 3rd draw
· 4th and last betting round,
then it's showdown time. The best deuce to seven hand wins.
