"Are Custom Poker Chips Worth Your Money?"
Poker rooms use custom poker chips for protection against counterfeit chips. In home games they can be used for the same reason but are more often to add uniqueness to the hosts game.
So are they worth your money?
If you’re a poker room then yes. If your everyone else they may be and they may not.
Quality clay, ceramic and composite poker chips are almost always worth the money. So that’s not a factor in answering our question.
The two biggest factors in whether they are worth the money are the price of your custom chips and how often you’ll use them.
The cost of low end minimal customization chips is around $0.60 a chip. Compared with $0.10 for an “as is” chip and getting close to 1000 chips the price difference is huge. If you want full customization prices start at around $0.90 a chip (depending on whom you buy them from).
So if you have a limited budget standard as is chips may be best.
How often your chips get used is another factor.
If your poker game is a once in a while event you should probably get standard chips. Spending more money for custom chips that wont see the light of day isn’t worth it.
If your game is twice or more a week then custom chips are worth it. They’ll get plenty of use to justify their purchase. Plus they’ll impress everyone that sees them.
Custom poker chips are worth their cost IF you have the money to spend and they get enough use.
Definitely find the least expensive custom chips you can. All chips are made with quality, endurance and longevity in mind. Find the one that suits you and they will be worth the money.
Good luck!
