"Crazy Pineapple Poker: How To Play And Win"

What makes crazy pineapple poker differ from other community card games?

You get dealt THREE cards! Use all three before the flop and on the flop. Discard ONE card when the flop betting round is finished. You’ll have two cards on the turn and river.

Two to ten players play at a time.

Play this game with one of three betting structures…

· Limit

· No-limit

· Pot limit

And play it as a cash game or tournament.

The game is sometimes played for high hands or as a split pot game. Make sure you know which one of the two the game is, before you take a seat at the table.

How to play crazy pineapple poker

The deal starts after a good shuffle and the small and big blinds are posted. The small blind gets the first card. Cards get dealt clockwise, one at a time, until each player has three cards. When the deal is complete, there is a betting round.

The player clockwise from the big blind starts the pre-flop betting round. This player and all players after, can…

· Raise the big blind/bet in front of them

· Call the big blind/bet in front of them

· Fold their cards

Once all players act on their cards, the flop is dealt. The first player clockwise from the button starts the flop betting round. When players have acted on their cards, it’s time to discard. Each active player must discard ONE of their three cards. If you have three cards on the turn or river, your cards are dead and you forfeit any money put in the pot. Discard one!

After the discard, the turn is dealt followed by a turn betting round.

Next the river card gets dealt followed by one last betting round. When the river betting round is done, players turn their cards up and the best hand wins the pot.

Crazy pineapple poker strategies

As with all poker games, an aggressive style of play wins more than a passive style. Raise when you enter a pot, bet your hand when you think it beats your opponents’. When you’re in the drivers seat, you have more control of the outcome, one that favors YOU.

What cards do you play?

One guideline to stick by is: all three cards have to work together. Three cards can make three, two card combinations. If these three, two card combinations connect, they are playable.

Consider your position during betting rounds.

In early positions play big cards J-Q-K or better. Big pairs J-J-X(if your third card connects with the pair). A hand is stronger when two cards have the same suit.

In middle positions play 10-J-Q or higher and 9-9-X or higher, IF it’s folded to you. If an early position player enters the pot play J-J-X or better.

In late positions play 8-9-10 or higher and 7-7-x or higher. If a middle position player enters play 9-9-X or higher. If an early position player enters, play J-J-X or higher.

Take players’ styles into account.

When a tight player (plays few hands) enters the pot, tighten up the hands you play. When a loose player (plays many hands) enters the pot, play slightly fewer hands than them.

Against a tight player, play J-J-X and higher. If they raise you play Q-Q-X or higher. Against a loose player play 8-9-10 or higher and 7-7-X or higher.

What two cards to keep?

Keep the two cards that make you the best hand. One exception is when you have a straight or flush draw, but if you go for your draw, you’ll break your made hand.

In this situation, make sure you have correct pot odds to draw. You need at least 4 to 1 to draw at a straight or flush. Otherwise hold your made hand.

Good luck!
