"5 Card Draw Basics"
5 card draw is a single draw poker game, played with 2-6 players at a table. You want to make the BEST high hand possible.
You can play this game with a limit, no-limit, or pot-limit betting structure.
Leaning basics of the game and some strategies will give you confidence when playing.
There are two rounds of betting, one after you receive your first five cards and the second after you discard. The second betting round is always twice as much as the first betting round. If you're playing $5-$10 limit, betting is in $5 increments on the first round and $10 on the second round.
Once the blinds are posted and the dealer has shuffled, the cards are ready to be dealt.
The deal starts with the small blind and goes around the table clockwise, each player is dealt one card at a time until all players have five cards.
Action starts with the person to the left of the big blind. They can call the big blind, raise it or fold. Action continues until all players have acted on their hand, when action is complete it is time to discard.
The discard starts at the small blind, the player puts their discards in front of them and receives an equal amount of new cards. The dealer burns one card before they give out new cards and also keeps the discards in a separate pile from the muck pile.
When all players discard and have new cards there is one more betting round. When the betting round is complete the remaining players turn their cards face up and a winner is determined!
